Tournament Structure for the ATP Finals
The ATP Finals is a professional tennis event for men tha🌠t includes singles and doubles, and takes place at the end of the men’s season, at thꦜe conclusion of the ATP Tour in November.
Taking the eight highest-ranked players on the men’s tour, the ATP Finals divides the players into two groups of four. In their groups the players play each other once in singles matches to form a mini-table, where the top two players from each group progress to play in a round of semi-finals that will ultimately lead to a final. The winne🌳r, if unbeaten, receives 1,500 ranking points.
All matches are played to a best-of-three set format. The tournament previously took place at the O2 Arena in London and now moves to Italy’s largest indoor sporting arena, the in Turin until 2025.
The tournament has a purse worth $5.7 million. There is also an appearance fee of $153,000 for the singles and $68,500 for the doubles teams. A champion that remains undefeated could earn the maximum 1,500 points, and $2,114,000 in singles. Undefeated doubles tea🉐ms can earn $354,500. There is also a trophy for the winners, which is made in London by silversmiths Thomas𓆏 Lyte.

History of ATP Finals
It was in 1970 that the Masters Grand Prix happened for the first time. At the time it was a showpiece event only, part of the Gr꧃and Prix Tennis Circuit, a series that no longer exists, and did not award any w𝓡orld ranking points.
Later on in 1990, the ATP first took over the men’s game, with one of their initial acts being the termination of the Masters GP and then replacing it with the new ATP Tour World Championship♎. Winners of the new tournament were, for the first time, awarded ranking points.
In addition, in 1990, the , who organised all four Grand Slam events, launched the Grand Slam Cup which would run until 1999, taking place each year in Munich, Germany. Then, in 1999, the ATP and ITF joined forces in order to create the Tennis Masters Cup, which would replace the two separate tournaments. The Tennis Masters Cup lasted until 2009 at which point it was given the new title of ATP World Tour Finals. It was also then that the tournament took place inside the 🦩O2 Arena in East London. After missing 2020 due to pandemic-enforced postponement, t𝔍he tournament is set to resume in 2021 in Turin, Italy, its host venue until 2025.
Between 2009 and 2016, the British bank Barclays was the main title sponsor, the first in the event’s history despite the US computer firm IBM. From 2017, Japanese manufacturer Nitto Denko picked up the 🧸tournament’s sponsorship.
Although primarily an indoor hard court event, it has on occasion been played on grass and even carpet, but never on clay, much to the chagrin of the . Today, as with the Shanghai Masters and the Indian Wells tournaments, the ATP Finals is considered to be one of the main events in tennis after the Grand Slam events of Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open and the Australian Open.
